When I discovered Dr. Serrão, I finally found hope. He and his nurse are wonderful, they listened and understood my insecurity. I immediately trusted Dr. Serrão and felt safe discussing the changes I wanted to occur in regards to the surgery. He was very calm which helped relieve my anxiety and presented himself in the most intelligent and professional manner. He was thorough in explaining the procedure and brought clarity to my fear.
I decided to have the operation and it has been a wonderful success that I cannot describe in words. The healing took 6 weeks and I visited Dr. Serrão regularly every 2 weeks in the recovery period. I am aware that any surgical procedure can have risks and complications, and even though this field of cosmetic-plastic gynecology is still very new, I chose Dr. Serrão for his confidence and experience. I made the right choice.
Not only did he perform my surgery with precision and excellence, he truly cared about me. I had my surgery on Thursday, spent the night in the overnight facility, saw Dr. Serrão Friday morning and then went home. My mother and aunts have been patients of Dr. Serrão’s for years. Dr. Serrão actually delivered me 23 years ago and delivered my baby last year. I felt very comfortable discussing my problem with him. After giving birth to a 9 pound baby boy, I realized that after giving birth to such a large baby that things seemed different.
Not only was I leaking urine when I coughed or sneezed, I did not feel the same sensation while having sexual intercourse. Things had changed dramatically for me. On the day of surgery everything went great from the time I walked in, and was greeted by his staff, to the time I left for home. I felt a little discomfort but knew exactly what to expect because they had explained everything to me during my pre-op visit. I had the packing in my vagina and a foley catheter which was uncomfortable, but it is not unbearable. I took the pain medication and used the ice packs as instructed and it helped with the pain I was having. I went back to the office in the morning to have the packing and catheter removed, it gave me immediate relief.
After the 6 weeks of healing took place I felt as good as new, having this procedure was the best decision I have ever made regarding my health. I feel confident and vibrant again. And my love life was back on track and I am having no problem reaching sexual gratification. Even my husband noticed the difference and was very pleased. I would recommend this procedure to anyone who is suffering from this discomfort, and I would strongly recommend my gynecologist, Dr. Serrão. My entire family loves him!
